We’ve been seeing a ton of Asian handsets over the years, but one more brand can’t hurt. I have to admit I’ve heard of UMI before, but this time it’s all in the context of a new device, that’s apparently more rugged than your average unit.

The phone is dubbed UMI Hammer and it’s priced at $150. Coming from Shenzhen, China, the phone offers 4G LTE connectivity and it has a metal case with resilience to shock and rough contact. The device comes with a metal frame, a glass side and a special “diamond tough” protection for that glass. This phone measures 7.9 mm in thickness and comes in black or white.

The design feels like the one of an older iPhone and on board of the device there’s a quad core MediaTek MT6732 processor, a 5 inch 720p display and 2 GB of RAM. Specs also include 16 GB of storage, a 13 MP back camera and a front 3.2 MP shooter. There’s a 2200 mAh battery included and Android 4.4 is the OS of choice here. The handset also supports HotKnot connectivity and this sounds like a solid offering.
