Aside from the ViewPhone 4s, ViewSonic announced a larger device, a 5 inch model called the ViewPhone 5e. This unit runs Android 4.0 and offers dual SIM capabilities. The display only as a 800 x 480 pixel resolution sadly, so it doesn’t quite take advantage of that big diagonal, like the Galaxy Note did.
ViewSonic could as well have put Windows Phone on it, considering this resolution… I guess. The handset was announced today, but it hasn’t been spotted at MWC yet, so we’re still waiting for some hands on time with it. The 5e will launch in Q3 2012 with a price below $599 (estimated). Right now the LG Optimus Vu and Galaxy Note sound better than this model, especially in this price range. We’ve yet to see a decent 5 inch smartablet with a low pricing, honestly.
Well, maybe some months from now we’ll see the Galaxy Note 2 and the first one will get a price decrease that will put on in everyone’s pockets. I really liked the first Galaxy Note, for its camera, CPU, snappy interface and S Pen system. Will the ViewPhone 5e even interact with a stylus?! I wonder…
