This week we’ve found out through a teaser that the Vivo X5Pro handset is going to be able to take 32 megapixel selfies. Obviously that involved interpolation, not a 32 MP front shooter. Now another interesting feature appears, related to authentication this time.

It appears the new Vivo phone will come with eye recognition, shown by the teaser image above. Vivo has been pretty active on its Weibo account with these teasers, so the launch may be coming pretty soon. There’s talk about a certain technology called “Eye ID”, that will recognize the unique setup of the ocular globe veins for each user, for an extra degree of safety.

We’ve heard about iris recognition or even retina scanning before, but this is a new approach. Samsung was rumored to use eye scanning on the previous Galaxy Note, but that didn’t come through, implementing a fingerprint scanner instead. The Vivo X5Pro is expected to bring a slim design, a 3500 mAh battery, a metal frame, HiFi audio and a Snapdragon 615 processor.
