Vodafone has just announced that it plans on implementing a customised version of Opera Mini on low end GSM handsets. Opera Mini 5 was already embedded on 20 devices and it’s downloadable on over 250 handsets with GPRS support, included in Vodafone’s portofolio.

This announcement also mentions the launch of a couple of very affordable data tariffs, that will have users forgetting about browsing costs. The tendency is towards making the browsing experience as affordable as possible, so Vodafone’s moves are a good indicator of things to come.

Also, Vodafone wants to introduce mobile Internet to customers who are new to the concept, Thus, they’ll provide step by step instructions in local languages and intuitive icons to everyone to interact with. The initiative will debut in South Africa, India, Tanzania, Egypt, Turkey and many other markets in the near future.
