Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO and chairman has received important honors this week, as he was elected vice president of the China Quality Association. The official is an engineering graduate from the Wuhan University in China and he’s known as the co-founder of Xiaomi.
He serves several other prominent functions, like chairman of Kingsoft, UCWeb and YY.com. Also, in November last year he was elected vice chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce. Now he was named VP of the China Quality Association (CAQ). This organization is a 30 year old non profit entity, registered with the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs.
They’re working with the European Organization for Quality and American Society for Quality, plus they have 16 sub associations, having to do with telecommunications, science and technology. This big organization has over 2300 corporate members, ranging from Huawei to TCL and from ZTE to Haier, BMW or Lenovo. With Lei Jun as VP, the association wants to integrate the professional ideas with the new concepts in areas like Internet ecosystem.
Xiaomi has a big year ahead, as it prepares to go public with an expected valuation of $100 billion.
