Xiaomi kept itself busy today, by finally unveiling the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 high end phone, but they also brought a surprise with it. It’s called Xiaomi Mi MIX and it’s a big phablet, with a very, very narrow bezel. Both models have excellent looking designs and they’ll surely be hot sellers over the next months.
You should also know that these two come after a short while following the unveiling of the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus, also high specced models. Back to the Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX, both newcomers debuted during the same event today and the Mi Note 2 is available in 3 versions. They have different storage options and RAM to separate them.
The screen on the Mi Note is a curved edge one, with an OLED panel in the mix and offering a Full HD resolution. The handset packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, clocked at 2.35 GHz, as well as a 4070 mAh battery, with Quick Charge 3.0 support. While all the leaks pointed toward a dual back camera, we actually get a Sony IMX318 22.56 megapixel sensor, with F/2.0 aperture and 4K video capture, that gets electronically stabilized.
This device adopts an USB Type C port, packs a fingerprint scanner, Hi Fi acoustics and an 8 MP selfie camera. The 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage version costs $413, while the 6 GB RAM/128 GB storage model goes for $487. There’s also a 6 GB RAM/128 GB storage model with 37 band LTE global support, at $516.
And then we move on to the magnificent looking Xiaomi Mi MIX, a phone with a facade that’s really all display. It brings an edge to edge 6.4 inch panel with an incredible 91.3% screen to body ratio. The display has an atypical 2040 x 1080 pixels and it’s a 16:9 panel. Its only real edge is the “chin” at the bottom and it feels a bit like the Aquos Crystal X from Sharp.
Just like that model this one puts the selfie 5 MP camera on the bottom of the front. The earpiece is replaced by a technology that uses vibrations to transmit sound through the user’s skull to the inner ear, once again like Sharp’s handset. Xiaomi Mi MIX also has high end specs, that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, a 4400 mAh battery and a 16 megapixel main camera, with autofocus and dual tone flash.
There’s also Quick Charge 3.0 on board, 4 or 6 GB RAM of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. Finally, an IR blaster has been included, plus a fingerprint scanner at the back. This beauty goes for $516 in the 4 GB RAM/128 GB storage model and $590 for the 6 GB RAM/256 GB storage model, that brings something extra too: 18 karat gold accents.
Instant buy I’d say!
