For a while now, all we had to go on regarding the Xiaomi Mi 5 official debut date was a bunch of rumors, saying it’s going to arrive after the Chinese Spring Festival. Well, today we learned via official sources that the new flagship is going to debut on February 24th.
It will have a Snapdragon 820 processor, as confirmed by Xiaomi and in case you’re wondering, it’s Liwan Jiang, the company’s senior VP who unveiled the launch date. He did the unveiling via Weibo, announcing that Xiaomi will hold a press conference on that date. What’s interesting is that while the event takes place in Beijing, all eyes will be on Barcelona, since MWC 2016 will be happening there.
We’ll remind you that this phone model is expected to come with a 5.1 inch Full HD screen, 3 GB of RAM, a metallic frame placed between two layers of glass and 32 GB of storage. There will also be a premium model, with a 5.1 inch Quad HD 2.5D screen, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The OS on the device is Android 6.0 with MIUI 7 on top.
The physical home button has been pictured multiple times lately and it’s expected to be part of the features, with fingerprint scanner included.
