After multiple sightings in various stores in Eastern Europe, Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite became official today. The handsets are affordable midrangers or budget phones, that come with stock Android and Project Treble support. They’re pretty solid upgrades from the Mi A1 and we’ve got their specs below.

Xiaomi Mi A2

Xiaomi Mi A2 features an aluminum body and a 5.99 inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution. The panel provides 85% NTSC color coverage and 1500:1 contrast ratio. It’s also protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The product packs an impressive 20 megapixel selfie camera with a Sony IMX376 sensor and its very own LED flash for selfies.

The main camera is a dual one, like the MI A1, but this time with a 12 MP Sony IMX486 sensor combined with a 16 MP sensor. No telephoto or wide angle lens is here. We’ve also got a Snapdragon 660 CPU, 4 GB of RAM or even 6 GB in a higher end version. The storage is 32 GB, but sans the microSD you may want to pick a 64 GB or 128 GB model. Finally, a 3000 mAh battery and a 10W charger round up the list.

For starters Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in 40 countries, with a focus on Europe. in Spain for example it launches on August 10th and in France on July 27th. Xiaomi Mi A2 is priced at $292 for the 4 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage model and $409 if you want 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite

The Lite version becomes a sort of battery phone, since it offers a beefier battery. It also feels closer to the Mi A1, because it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. We’ve also got a notch this time and a 19:9 aspect, plus a dual camera. The 4000 mAh battery seems like the selling pont here, with the promise of 6 hours of non stop gaming or 32 hours of music.

The product has a metal body, but also a microUSB port and a triple slot system: two SIMs and one microSD. It measures 8.8 mm in thickness and goes with a 5.84 inch Full HD+ screen which reminds me of the latest Nokia X5 and X6. Upfront we find a 5 MP camera able to do Bokeh shots and at the back a 12 MP + 5 MP camera combo. PDAF is on the table, plus Bokeh. There are only two versions of this phone, one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage and one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

Luckily we also have microSD storage this time around. Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite has the same debut dates as the Mi A2 and it’ll be priced at just $210 in the starting version. The 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage model costs $268. Oh and I forgot to mention: the Mi A2 doesn’t have an audio jack.
