Xiaomi Redmi 3 was recently certified by TENAA and today we learn its release date. A teaser posted on Weibo and shown below indicates that this device is going to debut officially on January 12th.

The handset is expected to be a midrange affair and interestingly the pattern on the poster is different from what the TENAA pictures showed. It seems we’re getting a criss-cross pattern at the back, making it more youthful. Anyway, the newcomer is expected to run Android 5.1 Lollipop, while relying on an octa core 1.5 GHz processor, probably a Snapdragon 615 or newer generation.

This model is going to have a 5 inch IPS LCD display with a HD resolution, a 13 megapixel back camera and a 5 MP selfie shooter. It will support LTE Category 4 and I wouldn’t be surprised if a generous battery was also inside. Finally, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage will be included. Pricing is unknown, but anywhere below $250 is possible.
