Xiaomi is once again prepping new smartphones, within the Redmi series. This time we have details about these handsets, the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5A, with prices starting at $163. Let’s see what we know so far.
Even the Note 5A’s box has leaked out and you can check it out below. Both models have 5.5 inch Full HD screens and go up to 4 GB of RAM (there’s also a 3 GB of RAM version). The Note 5A is specced higher, since it sports a dual camera, for example. There’s a 12 MP + 13 MP shooter at the back, plus a Snapdragon 625 CPU, a 3790 mAh battery and Android 7.1 Nougat as the OS. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 packs a Snapdragon 630 CPU, a 13 MP front shooter and a 16 MP main camera.
The battery and OS are the same. As usual, I have great expectations for the combo of a midrange Snapdragon CPU and a generous battery, since the previous Redmi phones had fantastic battery lives. The chassis should be all metal for the newcomers and we’ve got a fingerprint scanner upfront, within the Home button. From what I can see the back side has curved edges, a throwback to the Mi 5 and Mi 6 maybe…
