Lately we’ve seen more and more leaks related to Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 5S handset, that’s expected to bring a Snapdragon 821 CPU and more goodies. Things were unclear about its launch, but everything becomes clarified now that Xiaomi has sent out press invites for September 27th.
The “S” in the invite pretty much speaks for itself and the Mi 5S was recently leaked in AnTuTu and also certified in China. It’s also going to bring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sense ID technology, with the associated ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, able to recognize prints through dirt and on wet fingers without a problem. This time the scanner goes at the front, in a Home button.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S will come with a 5.15 inch Full HD screen, up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage, plus a 16 megapixel main camera and 13 MP front shooter. A new version of MIUI based on Nougat would be nice, but I don’t think it’s ready yet. The battery will also be point of interest, since Xiaomi usually delivers solid usage times on its devices.
