Xiaomi has a big, big event scheduled for May 10th and they won’t only debut hardware products there, like the Mi Max phablet or the Mi Band 2 fitness tracker, but also software. MIUI 8 is expected to drop then and it gets a fresh teaser below.
Rumors are talking about a brand new type of authentication, one that’s even more secure than regular fingerprint scanning, it seems. MIUI 8 was demoed at the end of April in a short clip, that showed a new design for the Notification area bit, as well as the Quick Settings portions. The latter were placed above the notifications and there was also a Google Now-style card above all of them with weather info.
Design changes are expected, with even more abstract icons and vivid colors, plus a new cloud solution for the integrated music player. The last MIUI release was based on Lollipop and this one could move to Marshmallow, although that’s not guaranteed. We’ll learn more in 6 days!
