LG Display, one of the most popular mobile device panel suppliers on the market is about to finalize talks with Xiaomi and intends to deliver panels for their products in 2016. The info comes from a report from Korea-based MT News.
Pricing negotiations are happening right now between the two companies and they’re expected to wrap up before the end of the current year. Xiaomi will receive their panels in the second quarter of 2016. LG Display wants to rely less on the orders from parent company LG Electronics and they want to expand their own customer base following the announcements to expand OLED production.
Xiaomi has been receiving OLED displays from LG ever since 2014, but they want to expand their lineup of OLED-based smartphones next year, said the same sources. This would make a new step in the Chinese company’s history, as they evolve to superior (and pricier) specs.
