ZTE has the distinction of being the fourth largest smartphone maker in USA, so it’s no wonder they launched locally their freshly announced ZTE Axon Phone. The product was showcased in June first and now it enters USA with a price tag of $450.

This is a high end offering, that will be available on Amazon, Newegg and eBay, where it’s up for preorder. Shipping starts at the end of July. The Axon Phone is made of glass and metal and it has a waistline of 9.3 mm, while weighing 175 grams, so it’s a bit massive. Specs include a Quad HD 5.5 inch screen made by Sharp, as well as an octa core Snapdragon 810 processor and 4 GB of RAM.

There’s Android 5.1.1 on board, without too much customization, as well as 32 GB of storage and a 3000 mAh battery. There’s no microSD card slot here and the back camera is a dual lens model (13 MP plus 2 MP for bokeh effects), while the selfie cam is an 8 MP unit. A HiFi chip is available too, as well as “advanced sound recording”, courtesy of dual microphones. Interestingly, this handset is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile, but not Verizon and Sprint.
