ZTE has just unveiled a new phone, the Grand X LTE (T82), that in spite of the impressive name is actually merely a single chip LTE handset. This is a first for the company and a rare occasion, since you don’t see many single chip phones with LTE nowadays.
Unveiled at CommunicAsia 2012, the phone will launch in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe in Q3 2012. The processor used here is the latest MSM8960 flavour from Qualcomm. The chip uses advanced 28 nm technology, that will give the user extra battery and performance. The handset integrates WiFi, runs Android 4.0 and its processor is actually a dual core unit with 1.5 GHz frequency. At the back of the phone there’s an 8 megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording.
The handset’s front camera supports 720p HD video calls and the LTE connectivity brings downloads of up to 100 Mbps. Under the hood we find a 1900 mAh battery and pricing is still a mystery for this phone. ZTE also showed a tablet with TD-LTE/EDGE at CommunicAsia and that will come in Q3 as well.
