ZTE finally launched its Nubia Z17 flagship, after a bunch of teasers and leaks. Interestingly, the Nubia Z17 Mini actually came before it, which is something you don’t see every day. Now, the new flagship brings 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, plus the Snapdragon 835 CPU.
Unveiled today in Beijing, this powerhouse of a machine is only the second phone from China to have the Snapdragon 835 CPU inside, after the Xiaomi Mi 6. The design, especially when seen from the back reminds me of the Huawei Honor 8 a bit. ZTE Nubia Z17 comes with a dual back camera, that includes a 23 MP sensor and also a 12 MP shooter, with the combo offering 2x optical zoom and up to 10x dynamic zoom.
Upfront there’s a 16 megapixel selfie camera, with F/2.0 aperture and 80 degree wide angle lens. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Nubia UI 5.0 on top and it also offers a 3200 mAh battery, that has Quick Charge 4.0 support. Dolby Atmos acoustics and an infrared blaster have also been included. This is a waterproof phone, with IP67 certification, which means it can dive 1 meter underwater free of damage.
A fingerprint scanner has been included at the back and this device can be used for mobile payments with AliPay and WeChat. 4G LTE is also here, as well as an USB Type-C port. Available in black gold, soft gold, black, blue or red, this device measures 7.6 mm in thickness and weighs 173 grams. It’ll be available priced at $411 in the 6 GB RAM, 64 GB storage version, or $499 for the 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage version, or $583 for the 8 GB RAM top tier unit.
