We’re starting to lose touch with normal diagonal sizes nowadays it seems, as recently we’ve heard of a Huawei device with a 6.1 inch display and also an 8 inch device. Both come with the strange demand of being called phablets or even worse “phones”, that seems bizarre to say the least. Now there’s another newcomer with a strange diagonal, ZTE P954, with a 5.7 inch diagonal.
The device has just leaked in the picture below and it also involves some nifty specifications. This product doesn’t give you any ultra high end features, being happy with just a 720p resolution, plus a quad core 1.2 GHz CPU that’s supposed to be “ordinary”. Other specs of the ZTE P954 include an 8 megapixel camera at the back, a 3000 mAh battery and Android 4.0 ICS. We can consider this model a midrange phablet, joining the ranks of similar products from Samsung or Lenovo.
I can’t really see the purpose of a low end or midrange phablet. You usually make the jump from phone to phablet for the ultra high end experience, for the console replacement, not to get the same average experience on a bigger screen, right?
